Welcome to Casa Capitan
Experienced travelers to the region know the legendary charm of my Casa Kestos beach estate in the fishing village of Sayulita. Now I’m opening my other Mexican home, Casa Capitan, to guests who appreciate the personal touch I bring to my properties, but also want the golf, family theme parks, shopping, and other tourist amenities found closer to Puerto Vallarta.
Two Vacations in One
Just a few leisurely minutes by foot, car, or boat from Nuevo Vallarta’s luxury beach hotels, the spacious rooms and verdant grounds of Casa Capitan offer you a very different way to kick back and get away from it all. You and companions will enjoy the privacy of a personal casa, where the birds sing the sun to its rest while you eat a delicious meal after a day out having fun.
Several hotels make their beach facilities available to all, and rental jetskis and bicycles are readily available. From the Nuevo Vallarta harbor entrance, the white sand beach stretches to the village of Bucerias. Travel its length and you will discover a turtle hatchery, small charming restaurants, and other surprises unique to this Pacific gem.
The casa is close to two 18-hole golf courses, the marina and yacht club, a water slide park, swimming with dolphins, ocean beaches, fine restaurants, a supermarket, and much more. Nuevo Vallarta is a perfect location from which you may enjoy all the attractions of bustling Puerto Vallarta, the string of traditional fishing villages stretching north along the Nayarit coast, or longer trips to the state capital of Tepic or the historic former colonial naval base at San Blas.
A property manager, maid, and grounds keeper help ensure the luxury of your visit. Rachel, the maid, typically works in the house between 8:30AM and 3:00 PM. She may prepare small meals with advance notice, including delicious homemade salsa and guacamole. She can also run loads of laundry for guests, but please make sure they are full loads.
The phone at the casa does not make long distance calls, but they can easily be placed using international long distance cards. These can be purchased locally, or before your trip at many stores, including Costco and Sam’s Club.
The soul of the house lies half indoors and half outdoors, where the dining room and the stunning L-shaped colonnaded patio join. The patio’s embrace spans from the sitting area off the master bedroom to the classic, gas-fueled, stuccoed barbecue grill.
Elegant wrought iron and glass doors open wide between the patio and the dining room, which ajoins the kitchen. Just as the barbecue provides an outdoor alternative to cooking in la cocina, the patio offers the same choice when it comes to eating la cusina.
The Dining Room and Kitchen
The cocina is fully-equipped with everything you need to cook, on those times when you choose not to take advanatage of Nuevo Vallarta’s abundant food choices.
The Bedrooms and Baths
When day is done, three bedrooms in the main house are waiting to lull you to rest, with accommodations for 6 adults. An attached one-bedroom apartment at the back of the house provides an additional two guests with their own private entry, kitchen, and king bed. Inquire about renting the apartment separately.
The master bedroom is practically a home by itself, with a king bed, glorious master bath, abundant closets, and a private entrance from a secluded corner of the patio.
The guest bedroom features two queen beds and a spacious bathroom with an attractive stone work shower enclosure.
The extra bedroom provides an additional queen bed and separate bath for guests with children or a large number of companions.
The Grounds and Canal
The casa istself is set in double lot with a verdant lawn. A line of palm trees echos the form of the patio collonade, extending its gracious lines to the boat dock. Located in a residential cul de sac, the grounds provide serenity and security with a birdsong accompaniment.
A boating canal which connects to the famously spectacular Bay of Banderas borders the grounds. The direct connection to the suggests an arrival possibility for those who feel more at home on deck than in an airliner.
Guests are welcome to use the private dock for boat mooring without marina fees, and the Nuevo Vallarta Yacht Club has a reciprocity agreement with US yacht clubs. Planning a sea fishing adventure couldn’t be more convenient, as captain Chris moors his charter boat at Casa Capitan.
The canal depth is a minimum of six feet at low tide.
At the heart of the house, the vaulted living room embraces you with comfortable furniture, a home entertainment center, and pieces of art I’ve chosen to complement the lifestyle the house embodies.
